Window Security Upgrades

Window security upgrades cannot be reduced to adding a single component. The resistance of an existing window depends on the profile, hardware, number and position of locking points, handle, hinge side, glazing and how the complete construction is installed.

We therefore start by assessing the existing window. Only after the hardware system is identified can we determine which additional components are compatible and whether an upgrade is technically sensible.

Which components can improve window security?

Depending on the system, additional or upgraded locking and hardware components may be considered. In tested burglar-resistant configurations, manufacturers use elements such as mushroom locking cams with matching security strikers, lockable handles or handles with documented security properties, drilling protection and additional hinge-side protection. Not every component can be retrofitted to every existing window.

What do RC2 and RC3 actually mean?

RC classes apply to a tested configuration of the complete window or door under the relevant burglary-resistance standards. Adding one component to an existing window does not automatically turn it into an RC2 or RC3 window. An upgrade can improve security, but we do not present retrofitting as certification of the complete construction.

A locking handle is part of a solution, not the whole system

A lockable handle can make unwanted handle operation more difficult and, in specific systems, can form part of a burglar-resistant configuration. Concealed hinge sides and security

Concealed hinge systems can be used in window configurations with increased burglary resistance, but concealment of the hinge side alone does not give the window an RC class. For this system-specific accessory, see concealed hinges.

Is an opening restrictor automatically an anti-burglary device?

No. A restrictor can be used to control how far a window opens or for other operating functions. A burglary-protection function should only be claimed for a specific model where the manufacturer documents that intended use and its relevant performance.

Can security components be added without replacing the complete window?

On some existing constructions, compatible additional components can be fitted without replacing the complete window. This is not universal. The possible scope depends on the profile, hardware, condition of the components, fixing options and availability of a compatible solution.

If the hardware is worn or damaged, window mechanism repair or replacement may be required before a security upgrade is assessed.

What is the starting price for window security fitting?

Window security fitting starts from 140 PLN. This is a starting price, not a fixed final price. The final quotation depends on the existing construction, selected components, compatibility and fitting scope. The technician call-out and initial assessment are free, and the final price is provided before paid work begins.
