We choose cleaning and lubrication products for the specific hardware system and the manufacturer's instructions. The scope and duration depend on the construction, contamination and condition found during diagnostics.

Why are cleaning and lubrication necessary?

Hardware operates whenever the window is opened, closed or locked. Dust, contamination and insufficient lubrication can increase friction at moving points. Maintenance in line with the hardware manufacturer's instructions helps preserve smooth operation and limit unnecessary wear.

Which symptoms are a reason to check the hardware?

Symptoms that justify checking the hardware and maintenance need include:

• window squeaks or creaks when opening
• handle operates with resistance
• mechanism requires force to turn
• uneven or less smooth sash movement
• visible dirt on the mechanisms
• visible corrosion, dirt or wear on accessible metal components

These symptoms do not prove that lubrication alone is sufficient. The cause may be contamination, lack of lubrication, sash alignment, wear or a damaged component, so we check the hardware first.

What does our cleaning and lubrication service include?

The exact scope follows from diagnostics and the hardware construction. It can include:

Mechanism cleaning

We remove accessible contamination from the hardware points that require maintenance. The product used is selected for the manufacturer's guidance and the materials present in the system.

Hinge and hardware lubrication

We lubricate the moving and locking points specified for the installed hardware using a suitable oil or grease. The product and lubrication points depend on the system.

Gasket maintenance

Gasket condition is assessed separately. Where the window-system manufacturer specifies a care method, a compatible product can be used; hardware lubrication is not automatically treated as gasket maintenance.

General condition check

During maintenance we inspect accessible hardware and hinge components. If we find wear, looseness, damage or an alignment problem, we explain whether adjustment or repair is needed.

Window maintenance and preventive maintenance should follow the instructions for the installed hardware. Regular window care does not automatically mean adjustment or parts replacement; diagnostics determines what is actually needed. The service includes a free call-out, and the technician confirms whether cleaning and lubrication alone is appropriate.

When should cleaning and lubrication be carried out?

Cleaning and lubrication should be performed:

• at the interval specified for the installed hardware; for example, SIEGENIA and Winkhaus specify annual maintenance for some residential hardware systems, but the required interval depends on the system and conditions of use;
• when the manufacturer's maintenance schedule calls for it, and additionally when operation becomes noticeably less smooth;
• when the window squeaks or the handle operates with resistance;
• after a long period without maintenance when the instructions for the installed system call for periodic servicing.

How to check the mechanisms yourself

You can carry out a preliminary check of whether the window needs maintenance:

• Listen to the window – squeaking or clicking is a reason to identify the source of the sound; it does not always mean lack of lubricant.
• Check the handle – it should turn smoothly and easily. Resistance can result from contamination, insufficient lubrication, sash misalignment or wear, so it should not be diagnosed from this symptom alone.
• Inspect accessible components – visible contamination, corrosion, looseness or damage is a reason for inspection, but does not by itself determine the repair method.
• Tilt test – the tilt of the sash should be smooth. Jamming or difficulty in tilting can have several causes, including adjustment or hardware faults; forcing the handle can worsen the problem.
