A concealed hinge is hidden inside the profile – invisible from outside, harder to force and offers full 3D adjustment. It's the choice where design and security both matter.
How does a concealed hinge differ from a standard one?
A standard scissor hinge is fitted on the outer edge of the profile – visible and accessible from outside. A concealed hinge sits in a routed groove inside the profile. From outside there's nothing to grip, nothing to lever.
3D adjustment of a concealed hinge is done through special holes from inside – without removal, with a screwdriver. You set the sash in vertical, horizontal and depth position in a few minutes.
Where do concealed hinges make most sense?
On a front window visible from the street. On balcony doors with aesthetic requirements. On the ground floor where security is a priority. In buildings where the management requires a neat appearance (housing communities).
What load ratings are available?
Up to 80 kg – basic model. 90–120 kg (large windows with triple glazing) – reinforced model. Above 120 kg (terrace doors) – heavy-duty model. The technician measures the sash and selects the right model.
Fitting concealed hinges
Fitting requires routing a seat in the PVC profile. The opening must be precise, with ±0.5 mm tolerance. Replacing one pair of hinges takes 2–4 hours. This is not a DIY job – an error during routing destroys the window profile.

Hidden hinges for PVC windows
Hinges recessed into the sash and frame profile of PVC windows. Invisible from the outside when the sash is closed. Installation requires milling a recess in the profile — our technician does this on-site using templates.
Hidden hinges for PVC balcony doors
Balcony doors are heavier than windows and require hidden hinges with a higher load rating. We select the model based on sash weight and profile width. After installation, full 3D adjustment is possible without disassembly.
Hidden hinges for aluminium systems
Schüco, Aluprof and other systems have their own hinge installation standards. We verify compatibility before ordering parts — not every hidden hinge fits every aluminium profile.
3D adjustment of hidden hinges
Hidden hinges allow adjustment along three axes (up–down, left–right, compression) without loosening screws. The technician performs a full adjustment after installation and checks that the seal presses evenly all the way around.
Replacement of worn hidden hinges
Over time, hidden hinges can develop play or make adjustment difficult. We replace them with new ones and fully realign the sash geometry. During replacement we also check the condition of the mounting recesses in the profile.
Installation of decorative covers and caps
After fitting a hidden hinge, the mounting points can be covered with decorative caps matching the profile colour. The caps also protect the hinge mechanism from dust and seal the profiles.
What sets a concealed hinge apart from a traditional one?
Three technical aspects that determine the right choice
Security: a visible hinge can be unscrewed from outside
Traditional hinges exposed to external access (e.g. on windows facing a terrace) can be loosened or unscrewed without opening the window. A concealed hinge is fully embedded inside the profile with no external access point whatsoever — completely eliminating this break-in vector.
3D adjustment — three axes without removing any screws
A concealed hinge allows you to fine-tune the sash position along three axes: up–down (height), left–right (lateral shift), and front–back (compression depth). Each axis is adjusted independently with an Allen key, without removing the hinge from the profile. This gives far greater flexibility than a standard traditional hinge.
When a concealed hinge is NOT the right choice
Concealed hinges have a limited load capacity — typical models support windows up to 100–130 kg and doors up to 150 kg. For very wide and heavy glazing units (e.g. HST terrace doors, sliding windows), concealed hinges may be unavailable or insufficient. A technician will assess the limitations for your specific window or door.
