Aluminium Window Repair

Aluminium window repair starts with identifying the actual construction. Frame material alone does not tell us which hinges, hardware, gaskets or adjustment points are used. Two aluminium windows that look similar can require different procedures and different parts.

We service Schüco, Aluprof and other aluminium window systems where adjustment, repair or replacement of the correct component is possible. We do not diagnose from the profile brand alone: before selecting a part, we check the construction, hardware, opening type and the component actually causing the problem.

What problems can aluminium window service address?

• the sash rubs against the frame or does not close correctly;
• the handle or locking mechanism operates with significant resistance;
• air movement is felt around a closed window;
• a gasket is damaged, deformed or no longer seats correctly;
• a hinge, hardware component or another mechanism part is damaged or worn;
• persistent condensation appears between the panes of the sealed glazing unit.

A symptom is not a diagnosis. Difficulty closing can result from sash alignment, but it can also involve a hinge, locking points or a damaged mechanism component. Likewise, a draught does not automatically mean that the gasket needs replacing. We establish where the problem originates before choosing the service.

Aluminium window adjustment – there is no single procedure for every system

Window adjustment may involve correcting sash position or compression at points provided by the particular hardware system. Aluminium windows use different hinge and locking solutions, including concealed hardware, so the available adjustment range depends on the construction and the settings permitted by that mechanism.

If a component is damaged or excessively worn, adjustment should not be used to hide the fault. Diagnostics should instead lead to repair of the relevant component.

Gaskets in aluminium windows – geometry and fit matter

Gaskets form part of a specific aluminium system. For gasket replacement, the correct profile and seating method must be matched to the construction; choosing a seal simply because it is marketed “for aluminium” is not enough.

If air movement is felt around a closed window, we also check sash alignment, compression and other possible leakage points. Gasket replacement is appropriate when the condition or fit of the seal is actually part of the problem.

Hardware, hinges and mechanisms – the part must match the construction

Aluminium windows use different hardware systems and load ranges. For mechanism or hardware repair, we identify the installed solution and match the component to the specific system, dimensions and way the sash operates.

We use new, original manufacturer parts intended for the identified system. We do not install aftermarket substitutes or second-hand parts. If the correct component is not immediately available, we explain the next step after identification.

Glazing units – condensation between panes is not an adjustment problem

If a pane is cracked or persistent condensation is located between the panes and cannot be wiped from the room side, diagnostics point towards the sealed glazing unit. In that case, glazing unit replacement may be the relevant service.

Moisture forming on an accessible glass surface is a different symptom and does not by itself mean that the sealed unit has failed. If the frame, hardware and other components remain serviceable, a glazing-unit fault does not automatically require replacement of the complete window.

Schüco, Aluprof and other systems – the profile brand is only the start

Schüco and Aluprof offer many different aluminium constructions, and individual systems can use different opening types, hardware and glazing configurations. Knowing that a window is “Schüco” or “Aluprof” therefore helps start identification, but it is not enough to order a part before the actual window has been checked.

When contacting us, photographs of the complete sash, hinges, handle, visible hardware markings and the fault area can help us prepare for diagnostics. Final parts compatibility is confirmed for the specific construction.

Aluminium windows and sliding systems: PSK yes, HST no

Aluminium is also widely used in large terrace constructions. Within our scope, we service supported tilt-and-slide and parallel-sliding systems, including PSK, described in more detail on our sliding door repair page. We do not service HST lift-and-slide systems.

This is a limitation of our service scope, not a statement that HST systems are not used with aluminium. PSK and HST use different operating principles and mechanisms, so we first identify the sliding construction type when a request is submitted.

When is aluminium window repair worthwhile?

Repairability depends on the condition of the profiles and construction joints, hardware, gaskets and glazing unit, together with availability of the correct parts. Age alone does not determine whether the window should be replaced. If the problem concerns a component that can be correctly diagnosed and repaired, replacement of the complete construction is often unnecessary.

How much does aluminium window repair cost?

The price depends on the work actually required. Window adjustment starts from 50 PLN, gasket replacement from 20 PLN, mechanism replacement from 50 PLN, sealing from 38 PLN, cleaning and lubrication from 42 PLN, glazing-unit replacement from 225 PLN and geometry restoration from 170 PLN. Not every service is appropriate for every aluminium window; diagnostics determine the relevant scope.
