Emergency Opening

Emergency window opening is used when a sash or supported balcony door has jammed and cannot be opened normally. The cause may be a failed handle, hardware component, locking mechanism or incorrect sash position.

We do not force the construction open. We first identify the likely cause of the blockage and then select an access method appropriate to the system. The aim is to minimise the risk of unnecessary damage to the profile, glazing, gaskets and serviceable hardware.

When is emergency opening needed?

• the window remains closed despite normal operation of the handle;
• the handle turns without correctly operating the mechanism;
• the handle is damaged or broken and cannot control the hardware;
• the sash is jammed in an incorrect position;
• the locking mechanism does not respond or one of its components has jammed;
• a supported balcony door cannot be opened or closed normally because of a mechanism fault.

These symptoms do not automatically mean the whole window needs replacing. Once it is open, we diagnose the damage and determine whether adjustment, repair or replacement of a specific component is sufficient.

How does emergency opening work?

1. Blockage diagnostics

We check the sash position, handle operation and accessible hardware. We identify the installed system and determine what is likely to be preventing normal opening.

2. Controlled opening

We select the method according to the construction and fault. The priority is to gain access to the mechanism with as little intervention in serviceable components as possible. We do not promise that every fault can be resolved completely without marks; this depends on the damage and any previous opening attempts.

3. Diagnosis after opening

Once access has been gained, we can assess the faulty mechanism more precisely and identify the cause of the blockage. If repair is required, we explain the scope and price before paid work begins.

4. Repair or component replacement

If the diagnosis and availability of the correct part allow, repair may be completed during the same visit. If a component has to be ordered, we address the immediate situation as far as the construction allows and arrange the next service date.

What should you avoid with a jammed window?

Do not use excessive force or pry against the profile. Forcing the handle, sash or mechanism can increase existing damage and make subsequent repair more difficult.

You can safely check the handle position, describe what happened before the blockage and take photos of accessible components. Do not dismantle the hardware or attempt to reach the mechanism through the profile or glazing unit.

Emergency opening and subsequent window repair

Opening restores access to the mechanism but does not always remove the cause of the fault. If a hardware component, handle or locking mechanism is damaged, we can recommend the appropriate window repair.

If sash alignment caused the blockage, the next step may be window adjustment. For supported balcony doors, further work may fall within our door repair service.

Which parts do we use after emergency opening?

If a damaged component requires replacement, we use a new, original part suitable for the identified system. Required components are taken from our stock or ordered from our suppliers. We do not assume replacement before diagnostics; we first identify which component actually caused the fault.

The profile brand does not always identify the installed hardware, so we identify the actual mechanism before selecting the opening method and parts.

Emergency opening costs from 225 PLN. The final price depends on the blockage, hardware system and work required to gain controlled access to the mechanism. The technician visit and initial diagnostics are free, and we provide the exact price before paid work begins.
