Balcony doors take more punishment than windows. They are opened and closed dozens of times a day, under wind load, with full body weight on the handle. Hardware wears faster. But in most cases, professional adjustment or part replacement restores full function in a single visit.
Most common balcony door problems
Door is harder to close and requires force: the sash has settled, hinges need adjustment. Usually solved with a 3D hinge adjustment.
Door opens by itself in the wind: no magnetic catch or friction catch installed, or the existing catch has worn out. Solved by installing or replacing a door catch.
Handle turns but does not lock the door: the espagnolette (multipoint locking mechanism) is worn or misaligned. May require hardware adjustment or partial replacement.
Door catches on the frame with a scraping sound: the sash geometry has shifted. Hinge adjustment restores correct alignment.
Latch no longer holds the door in closed position: the magnetic or friction latch has failed. Quick replacement, no modifications needed.

How to recognise a door fault?
Signs that your door needs servicing or repair
Door droops and scrapes the threshold
A sign of worn or misaligned hinges. The longer it's ignored, the more damage it causes to the threshold and frame profile.
Handle is stiff or stops working
A problem with the handle or multi-point lock mechanism. Repairing the lock or replacing the cylinder usually solves it.
HST door slides with difficulty
Worn rollers or a dirty track. Servicing the sliding system restores smooth operation without replacing the entire door.
Draught comes through a closed door
A draught through a closed door is caused by a worn seal or insufficient compression. Adjustment or seal replacement fixes the problem.
Lock won't close or key is hard to turn
A worn multi-point lock or an incorrectly aligned sash. A technician diagnoses the cause and repairs the relevant component.
Noise from the door – vibration and rattling
Play in the hinges or hardware causes rattling in the wind. Tightening or replacing the hardware eliminates the noise permanently.
