Locking handles – when and why to install one
A standard handle provides only one locking position. A key-locking handle adds a second level: the window can be locked mechanically, preventing it from being opened from inside without a key.
When does a locking handle make sense?
A flat with small children. The child cannot open the window – even standing on the windowsill. This is the most common reason for fitting key-locking handles in Poland.
Ground floor and courtyard-facing windows. A standard handle is no barrier to a burglar who breaks the glass. A handle with a cylinder lock extends the break-in time and acts as an effective deterrent.
Windows in offices, warehouses and commercial premises. You control who can open the window.
How does a locking handle work?
A cylinder insert is built into the handle mechanism. With the handle in the horizontal position it locks mechanically. Rotating downward is only possible after turning the key. Systems are available with a single key fitting multiple windows in the flat.
Fitting – what you need to know
Replacing a standard handle with a locking handle takes 20–30 minutes. The technician checks compatibility on site and selects the right model. After fitting he adjusts sash compression and checks the lock operates smoothly.

A full set of spare keys can be made for any locking handle. We carry this out on-site or direct you to an authorised key-cutting point for the specific cylinder model.
Handle replacement after lost keys
If all keys to the handle have been lost, we replace the entire locking handle mechanism with a new one. No window frame removal required.
Installation and verification service
Every installation includes: removal of the old handle, inspection of the spindle condition, fitting the new keyed handle, and testing the lock and unlock function in every window position.
Who needs a lockable window handle?
Three situations where a handle lock makes a real difference
Ground floor, no bars, window accessible from outside
Ground and first-floor flats are statistically the most common targets for break-ins through windows. A keyed handle is one of the simplest and most affordable barriers — it prevents quick opening of the window from inside after a pane is broken. An opening limiter or anti-burglary hardware provides additional effective protection.
Families with young children – accident prevention
A keyed handle prevents a child from opening the window on their own. It is a cheaper and simpler alternative to opening limiters, though it does not fully replace them — a limiter works even when the key is in the handle. We recommend combining both solutions on windows accessible to children.
A keyed handle is not a substitute for anti-burglary hardware
A handle with a lock makes it harder to open the window from inside through broken glass, but it does not strengthen the window's resistance to forced entry. Full protection requires multi-point hardware with certified locks or RC2 class fittings. A technician will assess which security measures are justified in your specific situation.
