Which problems do we repair in wooden windows?

We first assess the symptom and its cause. Our wooden window service covers situations such as:

• a sash rubbing against the frame, dropping or sitting incorrectly;
• a handle becoming unusually stiff, failing to reach its correct position or hardware not locking correctly;
• a window failing to close evenly or requiring alignment or compression adjustment;
• a gasket that is damaged, permanently deformed, split or unsuitable;
• worn or damaged hardware components that may require replacement;
• a damaged glazing unit or persistent fogging trapped between panes that indicates a problem with the sealed unit.

We do not assign one solution to one symptom. A draught, for example, may involve a gasket but can also result from sash alignment, compression or leakage elsewhere.

Wooden window adjustment – what do we actually adjust?

Window adjustment concerns how the sash, frame and hardware interact. Depending on the system, adjustment may involve sash position, hinges, locking points or compression. The available adjustment range depends on the actual window construction and hardware.

This matters because professional hardware systems may be designed for profiles made from timber, PVC or aluminium. We therefore do not assume that every wooden window follows one special adjustment recipe. The technician identifies the mechanism first and chooses the appropriate procedure.

Wooden window gasket replacement – when is it justified?

Gasket replacement is appropriate when the gasket's actual condition affects operation or sealing. We check continuity, elasticity, seating and fit to the profile. We do not replace a gasket simply because it has reached a particular age.

If a draught is caused by sash alignment or leakage elsewhere, a new gasket alone will not correct the source. Diagnostics therefore come before replacement.

Wooden window hardware repair and replacement

Hardware controls sash movement, locking and operation. If adjustment is not enough, we assess whether the mechanism or individual components can be repaired or replaced. The available solution depends on the system, component condition and availability of compatible parts.

We do not promise replacement of every old fitting before inspection. Older systems must first be identified so we can determine what repair is technically possible.

Replacing a glazing unit in a wooden frame

Cracked glass or persistent fogging between the panes can indicate a problem with the insulated glazing unit. This is different from condensation on the room-side glass surface caused when indoor moisture reaches a cold surface.

If diagnostics confirm a failed or damaged unit, glazing unit replacement may be possible without replacing the whole window, provided the construction allows the new unit to be correctly specified and installed.

What does wooden window servicing include?

Our service covers work related to correct window operation: diagnostics, adjustment, hardware cleaning and lubrication, gasket replacement, repair or replacement of serviceable hardware components and glazing unit replacement.

We do not renovate wooden frames, such as sanding and repainting or revarnishing the timber. If the problem requires that type of work, we explain this during diagnostics.

Does an old wooden window always need replacement?

Age alone cannot answer that question. If the fault concerns adjustment, a worn gasket, a serviceable hardware component or a replaceable glazing unit, repair may resolve that specific problem without replacing the whole window. If the timber structure itself is seriously damaged, window servicing alone may not resolve the problem.

During free diagnostics we determine whether the reported problem can be resolved through window repair and servicing. This helps avoid unnecessary window replacement while also avoiding promises of adjustment where a different trade is required.

How does wooden window servicing work?

After registration we contact you within about 15 minutes to discuss the symptoms and arrange a visit. The technician arrives at the agreed time, performs free diagnostics and explains the scope and price before repair begins. Once approved, the agreed work is carried out and the window's operation is checked.

Many standard adjustment and service jobs can be completed in one visit, but this depends on the fault and availability of required parts. We do not promise completion timing before identifying the problem.

How much does wooden window repair cost?

The price depends on the fault, hardware system, adjustment required and any parts needed. Window adjustment in our price list starts from PLN 50. Diagnostics and the assessment call-out are free, and you receive the exact quote before work begins.

If your wooden window is hard to close, rubs, has damaged hardware, a defective gasket or a glazing-unit problem, report the symptom rather than guessing the solution. We will determine whether adjustment is enough, a component needs replacement or the problem requires a different type of work.
