Custom-made fly screens – which type to choose?
A good fly screen is invisible, doesn't block airflow and fits your window exactly. Get it right first time.
Four types of fly screens – different applications
Frame screens are the most popular type. An aluminium frame with mesh that clips into the frame reveal. Light, easy to remove for winter. Compatible with most PVC and aluminium windows.
Pleated screens fold like an accordion. You open them with one hand movement. Ideal for kitchen windows and balcony doors.
Roller screens roll up into a cassette above the window. The cassette is discreet – it can be hidden under the windowsill. The most aesthetically pleasing solution.
Door screens for balcony doors. Reinforced mesh – resistant to contact with dogs and children.
Why order custom-made?
Off-the-shelf sizes don't fit non-standard windows. Even a 5–10 mm difference causes gaps. A custom-made screen is measured on site by the technician – airtight, no gaps.
Fitting and removal
Frame screen: fitting 15–30 minutes. Self-removal for winter without tools. Pleated and roller: fitting 30–60 minutes.

What types of fly screens do we install?
Types suited to different windows and usage styles
Fixed frame fly screens
Classic, fixed fly screens with an aluminium frame and mesh. Fitted to the window frame using snap clips or sliding profiles — no drilling required. The most durable and cost-effective solution. Precision-made to the exact size of each window.
Roller fly screens
Mesh that rolls onto a drum — slides to the side or top when the window is closed. Doesn't obstruct the view or access to the window. Fitted to the side or top frame. Recommended for windows that are opened frequently.
Pleated fly screens
Accordion-style mesh that folds out horizontally — used on wide balcony doors and large glazed openings. Can be pushed to the side without removing it from the profile. Available in single- and double-leaf versions.
Balcony door fly screens
Fly screens designed for balcony doors with a full-height door leaf frame. Available as fixed frame, vertical roller, or pleated versions. Fitted without any modification to the door profiles.
Mesh replacement
When the fly screen frame is in good condition but the mesh is damaged or dirty — we replace the mesh alone. Significantly cheaper than a new fly screen. Standard, fine-mesh, and pollen-filter mesh available.
Cleaning and servicing
Washing and inspecting the frame, mesh, and rolling mechanism. Cleaning the window frame profiles at the fixing points. Recommended every season — especially for roller fly screens with a spring-loaded mechanism.
Frame, roller, pleated – which one to choose?
Three aspects that will help you make the right decision
Frame mosquito net – more affordable and more durable
A frame mosquito net is the most affordable option and virtually maintenance-free. The downside is that it needs to be removed every time you want to clean the window from the outside or open it fully. It works well on windows that are only opened for ventilation – not for stepping through.
Mesh density matters
Standard mesh (18×16 holes/inch) stops flies, mosquitoes, and larger insects. Fine mesh (18×18 or finer) blocks smaller insects and midges. Pollen-filtering mesh has the tightest weave – recommended for allergy sufferers. Our technician will show you the available options.
How to care for your mosquito net so it lasts for years
Frame mosquito nets can be cleaned with a soft brush and lukewarm water. Roller nets require seasonal cleaning of the rolling mechanism – small debris can jam the spring. Winter storage tip: it's worth removing frame mosquito nets and storing them horizontally – prolonged mesh tension at low temperatures speeds up deterioration.
