Window handles – what to know before choosing
A handle is something you touch several times a day. When it jams, spins with no resistance or has come off the frame – the window loses its basic function. Choosing the right handle is about more than aesthetics; it's about safety and comfort.
When does a handle need replacing?
There are three signals not worth ignoring. First: the handle spins freely with no resistance but the sash doesn't lock. That's a worn spindle – the square rod connecting the handle to the hardware. The handle itself may be fine; it's enough to replace the spindle or the peripheral hardware.
Second: the handle resists and is hard to turn. Mechanism seized from dust and lack of lubrication. Often cleaning and lubrication is enough – no replacement needed.
Third: the handle is loose or has fallen out of its seat. The fixing screws have stripped or the seat in the profile is damaged. Replacing with a new handle of the same screw spacing solves the problem.
Types of handles – how to choose the right one?
Standard handles are the basic choice for PVC, wooden and aluminium windows. They differ in screw spacing and spindle length. The technician checks compatibility on site.
Key-locking handles prevent the window being opened without a key. Recommended on the ground floor and in flats with small children.
Anti-burglary handles with certification (PN-EN 13126-8 standard). Reinforced steel, resistant to forced extraction. Work best as part of a system with bolt hardware.
Tilt-and-turn handles (TURN-TILT) have an additional rotation position. An incompatible handle will block the tilt function. Check the mechanism type before buying.
Does every handle fit every window?
No. Handles differ in screw spacing (standard 43 mm), spindle length and direction of rotation. Buying without checking the specs often ends in incompatibility. The technician selects the right model on site – with no risk of error.

Standard handles
Rotary handles for PVC and wooden windows in various colours – white, silver, gold, anthracite – and matt or gloss finishes. We select a model compatible with your window's spindle.
Key-lockable handles
Handles with a built-in cylinder lock – the window can only be opened after unlocking with a key. Recommended for ground-floor windows, rear-facing windows, and homes with children.
Anti-burglary handles
Handles certified for burglary resistance, compliant with standard PN-EN 13126-8. Reinforced steel construction, resistant to forced removal. Form part of an anti-burglary hardware system.
Handles for tilt-turn-tilt windows
Windows with a tilt-turn-tilt function (TURN-TILT-TURN) require a handle with an additional rotary position. We replace a damaged or incompatible handle with the correct model.
Handle replacement – installation service
Removal of the old handle, inspection of the spindle and hardware condition, installation of the new handle and adjustment of closing pressure. If the spindle is worn, we replace it together with the handle.
Mechanism lubrication and adjustment
When a handle feels stiff or is difficult to turn, cleaning and lubricating the mechanism is often all that's needed. We also check the condition of the spindle and handle bearings while we're at it.
When does a handle need replacing?

In summer, handles can stick due to PVC expansion
PVC profiles expand in high temperatures, which changes the sash geometry. If the handle only sticks in summer and there are no signs of mechanical damage – an adjustment of the hardware is likely all that's needed, not a handle replacement.
