Sliding and HST terrace doors are heavy, precision systems. Load rollers, tracks and drive mechanisms wear after years of intensive use. A jammed HST door or a sliding panel that requires significant force to move – these are fixable faults, without replacing the entire system. How sliding and HST terrace doors work
Sliding doors run on load rollers in a lower track. HST (Hebeschiebesystem) doors first lift slightly before sliding – this creates an airtight seal when closed. Both systems depend on precisely aligned rollers, clean tracks and correctly adjusted closing pressure.
After 5–10 years of regular use, load rollers develop flat spots or crack. Tracks collect debris. The upper guide rail bends slightly under repeated load. These issues compound – a door that starts stiff becomes a door that won't open at all.

HST is not a standard sliding door – it needs a specialist
The HST (Hebe-Schiebe-Tür) system works by lifting and sliding a heavy sash. The precision lever mechanism requires service expertise and manufacturer-specific tools.

In 80% of cases, sliding doors that move stiffly need either roller replacement or track cleaning and lubrication. It's a repair that costs a fraction of a new system.
Service your sliding system every 2–3 years
