PSK Sliding Patio Door Repair

PSK patio sliding doors are tilt-and-slide constructions in which the sash works with bogies, tracks and multi-point hardware. When the sash is difficult to move, jams, does not close correctly or the handle requires unusual force, the complete mechanism needs to be diagnosed rather than assuming that one component is responsible.

We specialise in repairing PSK systems used for glazed balcony and patio access. We do not service entrance doors or exterior entrance doors. HST lift-and-slide systems are a different construction from PSK and are not within the scope of this service.

PSK and HST are different sliding systems

PSK belongs to the tilt-and-slide family. Its hardware combines tilting and sliding functions, while the operating sequence and individual hardware arrangement depend on the specific system. HST, by contrast, is a lift-and-slide construction and should not be treated as the same system as PSK.

Which symptoms can indicate a PSK problem?

• the sash is difficult to move from the closed position into sliding operation;
• the door jams while opening or closing;
• unusual noises occur during movement;
• the handle requires excessive force or does not complete its normal movement;
• the sash does not align correctly with the frame;
• there is a visible closing or compression problem when the door is shut.

These symptoms can have different causes, including contamination in the running area, incorrect adjustment, a worn bogie or another hardware component. We do not assume the cause before inspection; we check the mechanism first and then determine the required repair.

What does PSK sliding-door repair include?

Construction and hardware diagnostics

We check sash operation, bogies, tracks, locking components, the handle and the other PSK hardware. We identify the manufacturer and system configuration because adjustment procedures and replacement parts depend on the specific solution.

Cleaning the running area

We remove contamination that may interfere with the running components. Cleaning is not presented as a universal fix: if adjustment or a damaged component is responsible, the appropriate additional work is required.

PSK system adjustment

We correct the elements that are adjustable within the design of the identified system. The aim is to restore correct interaction between the sash, running hardware, locking components and frame.

Replacement of damaged components

If diagnostics identify a worn or damaged part, we replace the required component. We use only new, original manufacturer parts sourced through our suppliers. We do not fit aftermarket substitutes or second-hand parts.

Does the complete patio door need replacing?

A sliding problem does not automatically mean that the complete construction must be replaced. If the fault is caused by adjustment, contamination in the running area or a damaged hardware component, repair of the mechanism itself may be possible. A reliable decision can only be made after inspection.

If the issue concerns the profile, insulating glass unit, sealing or another part of the construction, we identify the appropriate scope during diagnostics and provide the cost before work begins.

How can you safely make a preliminary PSK check?

Without dismantling hardware, you can observe whether the sash moves evenly, whether the handle requires excessive force, whether visible dirt is present around the tracks and whether the door returns correctly to its closed position.

We do not recommend dismantling bogies or hardware yourself or forcing a jammed sash to move. Large glazed elements are heavy, and incorrect intervention can worsen the fault or create a risk of damage to the construction.

Which systems and brands do we service?

We work with all manufacturers and profile types within the PSK constructions that we service. The profile brand alone is not enough to select a replacement part; during diagnostics we also identify the hardware and the specific mechanism configuration.

Depending on the construction, hardware from manufacturers such as Roto, Siegenia, GU, Winkhaus or MACO may be present. We do not infer the installed hardware from the window brand alone. If replacement is required, we use only a new, original component appropriate for the identified system.

Large glazed patio elements may be described informally as either “patio windows” or “patio doors”. Within this service, the relevant constructions are PSK tilt-and-slide systems used as glazed access to a balcony or terrace.
