Balcony door sagging – what does it mean?
Balcony doors jamming on the threshold, rubbing against the frame or failing to close properly. These are typical signs of hinge drop – usually requiring adjustment, not door replacement.
Balcony doors weigh between 30 and over 100 kilograms. The scissor or roller hinge that has held the sash for years gradually loosens and shifts down. The result: the sash drops, rubs the threshold, fails to latch properly and loses its seal.
A common mistake is shimming the threshold or pushing the sash up manually. Instead, the technician adjusts the hinges on three axes – up, sideways and compression – restoring the precise position without any part replacement. Most cases resolved in 30–45 minutes.

Worn scissor hinges

Incorrect vertical adjustment
A scissor hinge has a vertical adjustment screw with a limited range. If the sash has only dropped a few millimetres, hex key adjustment can raise it. Quick but only effective if the hinge is undamaged.
Worn bottom roller or threshold seal
The bottom roller guides the sash and keeps it in position. Wear or damage causes the door to droop or wobble at the bottom. Replacement takes 30–45 minutes.
