Window hard to close – what is behind it?
Window sticking, needing a tug to close or the handle not reaching end position? That is misaligned hinges or hardware. We fix it with an Allen key – from 50 PLN.
A correctly operating window must be precisely adjusted on three axes: lateral, vertical and compression. When scissor hinges or peripheral hardware loosen – most commonly through normal use or frost – the sash shifts off-centre and starts rubbing against the frame.
Ignoring this leads to worn seals, a damaged locking mechanism and handle difficulties. The technician adjusts the hinges with an Allen key in 20–40 minutes. No disassembly, no part replacement – the sash returns to its correct position.
Why is the window sticking?

Dropped sash – detuned hinges
Scissor hinges have 3D adjustment: vertical, horizontal and compression. After a few years the sash drops a few millimetres – especially heavy triple-glazed units – and starts rubbing against the bottom or side of the frame. 4 mm hex key adjustment restores correct position.
Dirty or dry hardware
Hardware channels collect dust and grit, and technical grease dries out after a few years. Result: bolts move with resistance, handle requires force. Cleaning and PTFE lubrication restores smooth movement.
Broken scissor hinge
The hinge joint cracks or wears under the constant weight of the sash – especially in tilt-and-turn windows wider than 1 m. Symptoms: creaking, cracking sound on opening, or blocking halfway. Replacing the hinge restores normal operation.
