Window resistance when opening usually has two causes. First: misaligned peripheral hardware – the sash is pressed too tightly against the frame or rubs against the profile in the wrong place. Second: a hardened or swollen perimeter seal that sticks too tightly after winter or in the heat.
Ignoring the resistance damages the handle mechanism and stresses the hinge. The technician checks hardware position, adjusts on three axes with an Allen key and lubricates the seal with silicone. Most windows open easily again – without part replacement.

Corroded or dirty hinges
Scissor hinges covered in rust or stale grease have increased friction. Cleaning and lubricating with the correct preparation restores smooth movement. Severely corroded hinges need replacement.
Frozen seal in winter
At temperatures below -10°C a wet seal can freeze to the frame. The window appears jammed but opens normally after warming. Treating the seal with glycerine or a specialist product prevents this each winter.
