Why general-purpose oil sprays make things worse
Multi-purpose oil sprays from any hardware store — the kind marketed as a fix for everything — initially reduce friction. The effect lasts a few weeks.
Then the problem begins. The oil-based product collects dust and fine particles from the environment. After 2–3 months, a thick, sticky paste forms inside the mechanism. The window then runs worse than it did before lubrication.
Note: oil sprays are suitable only for external points — hinge screw heads, entry door locks. Never spray them inside window mechanisms.
How PTFE lubricant works: not oil, but Teflon
GreenteQ is engineered specifically for window and door hardware. Its action is fundamentally different from generic oil sprays.
It starts as a liquid — important because liquid penetrates every recess of the mechanism. After a few hours the carrier evaporates, leaving only one substance: PTFE (Teflon). PTFE is one of the most slippery technical materials in existence. It barely attracts dust, maintains its properties for up to 1.5 years and does not form a sticky layer.
What to do when hardware is already sticking
If windows stick despite previous lubrication, there is likely already a thick oil-and-dust paste inside the mechanism. Re-lubricating on top of it will not help. The old product must first be cleaned out, then the mechanism lubricated properly.
