Cleaning drainage slots: drainage grooves in the frame must be kept clear; blocked slots cause water pooling, mould and hardware corrosion. Minor handle tightening: loose handle mounting screws can be tightened with a standard screwdriver — do not over-tighten.

Never use WD-40 on window hinges — it contains solvents that degrade rubber seals and plastic, and the lubrication effect is very short-lived. Do not over-tighten adjustment screws — each has a limited range; exceeding it damages the mechanism. Do not ignore early signs of wear — slight play in a hinge or a mild draught at the handle means the window needs adjustment, not ignoring.
